Noonu changed character when Maafaru opened. A runway long enough for private jets pulled a cluster of very expensive resorts into an atoll that had been quiet, and it now holds some of the highest nightly rates in the country.
The guesthouse side has not grown at the same pace, so the gap between the cheapest and dearest bed here is wider than almost anywhere else in the Maldives.
