North Malé

North Malé is where Maldivian tourism started and it still holds the densest concentration of resorts. The advantage is transfer: no seaplane, no domestic flight, no overnight in Malé when a long-haul arrives late.
It is also the surf atoll. Thulusdhoo sits beside Cokes and Chickens, two of the best-known breaks in the country, and the guesthouse scene there is built around them.

The shortest transfers in the country. Most resorts here are a speedboat of 45 minutes or less from the airport, and that is worth real money when your flight lands at midnight.
