Haa Dhaalu
ހދ · HDh · The northern hub
Kulhudhuffushi is the largest town in the northern Maldives and has city status — a hospital, a harbour, a working population. This is not a resort atoll, and that is precisely its interest: it is where you see how the country actually lives outside the tourism economy.
Two airports serve it, which is unusual. Hanimaadhoo handles international traffic and is being expanded; Kulhudhuffushi’s own strip handles domestic. Guesthouses here are aimed as much at Maldivian travellers as at foreign ones, and priced accordingly.

Getting there
Hanimaadhoo is an international airport and the north’s main gateway — roughly an hour from Malé by domestic flight, with onward speedboats to most islands in the atoll.
Properties below are the Ministry of Tourism’s registered facilities for this atoll — name, island, rooms and beds exactly as recorded on the register. Transfer times, house-reef status and rates are checked by us property by property and appear as each listing is completed.
